Building Koha.Kiwi: A Partnership in Technology and Cultural Understanding

At Abletech, we are not just developers; we are partners in innovation, and sometimes, we have the privilege of being part of something that transcends technology. Our journey with Koha.Kiwi has been one such experience. Beyond building a web application, it has been a kaupapa (collective purpose) that has deepened our connection to Te Ao Māori, strengthening our understanding of Māori perspectives on business, relationships, and community.

Sprouting into the Future: How we rebuilt Trees That Count

Hasura is a product we’ve had our eye on for a while here at Abletech. We’ve used it for hobby projects, given tech talks on it and even written blog articles on our experience using it. When Project Crimson approached us about rebuilding their Trees That Count application in mid-2022, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to use Hasura and develop a solution that built upon their existing database but utilised a modern, extensible, scalable and maintainable tech stack - all with an organisation that aligned perfectly with Abletech’s core values.

Innovating with Purpose: How Ehoa Weaves Mātauranga Māori and Technology to Enhance Wellbeing

Ehoa is more than just an app—it is a kaupapa-driven innovation that brings together mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge systems) and modern technology to support holistic wellbeing. Built by Abletech using React Native for both Android and iOS, Ehoa is the first digital application of its kind to align personal tracking—of energy, emotions, and menstrual cycles—with maramataka, the Māori lunar calendar. But behind this seamless technology lies a deeper wānanga—one of cultural integrity, whakapapa to traditional knowledge, and a commitment to supporting individual and collective wellbeing.
